HOUSTON -- For many, New Year's resolutions are a distant memory. But a Houston hospital dietitian is hoping to get people back on track through an online question-and-answer service.Kelsey-Seybold's registered dietitian, Veronica Juarez, answers nutrition and diet questions every Monday as part of its Web site feature, "Ask Veronica."The weekly column features answers to readers' questions, ranging from establishing good childhood eating habits to using the food pyramid.
Here are a few tips from Veronica to stay focused on New Year's goals.

There is no "quick fix." Consistent healthy eating habits have a far greater effect.
Make your food choices based on the "food pyramid."
The intake of high protein and low or no carbohydrate foods promotes a "yo-yo" effect. Once you go back to "regular" foods, you gain back any weight lost.
Consider that a high fat, high protein, low carbohydrate diet like the Atkins' diet or the South Beach diet has been associated with kidney, liver, heart, and prostate problems.
