HOUSTON -- A popular Houston talk-show personality decided to make a change that his radio listeners would never notice -- he underwent surgery to change his looks.

Chris Baker is Houston's No. 1 radio talk-show host -- approximately 200,000 people tune into Talk Radio 950 to hear his funny take on pop culture and politics.

The former semi-pro baseball player turned stand-up comic turned conservative talker hated two things more than big government -- his expanding waistline and sagging chin.

"I could have weapons of mass destruction hidden under there," Baker said.

Dr. Henry Mentz, a Houston plastic surgeon, explained what liposuction could do.

"The more you can pinch, the more you can suction," Mentz said.

He told Baker that it would take more than lipo to correct his jaw. He would need a neck lift.

"There is a drop in the muscular structure there," Mentz said.

After the doctor explained all the risks, Baker scheduled his surgery and struck a pose.

"Once I lose this, I hope to be able to vogue better. Now a lot of people are vogue-ing these days," Baker said.

He wasn't nervous when the day came for surgery.

"Will it be painful?" he asked.

"Liposuction does hurt and it will take a week or two for him to feel better. It'll probably take him two to three months to feel good jogging. Do you jog?" Mentz said.

"Yeah, I jog from the Lazy Boy right to the fridge and back. I move pretty quick during commercials," Baker said.

"After we take the fat out, we'll put a few stitches in the muscle just to tighten up the muscles here," Mentz said.

Chris's wife, Sarah, who is 29, supports her 47-year-old husband. It's important because she has to keep their 1- and 3-year-old sons from jumping on dad for a few weeks.

In surgery, Mentz sucked out nine pounds of fat. Following surgery, Chris recovered with a nurse by his side at a hotel.

One week after surgery, Baker was wearing a compression garment around his head and compression garments around his upper body to help him heal. It was too early to see the results because he was still swollen.

"(It's) more painful than you thought," Baker said.

Five weeks later, Baker is a new man, showing off his body.

"He's looking good. The shape is coming through nicely. You see, he's getting a little bit of cleavage and a little bit of muscular curve," Mentz said.

A 3-millimeter puncture is what the scars look like. Mentz said they would fade in a few months, along with the remainder of the swelling.

Since nothing in Baker's closet fit, he went to Debbie and Rudy Festari's store, Festari For Men, along with stylist David Bamford, and friend Ben Whittle. They had one hour to give him a fashion makeover.

"I think Chris looks amazing. I can't believe the transformation," an onlooker said.

What does his wife think?

"I think he's more confident. He looks awesome. I loved you before. I love you now, and I love you before," Sarah Baker said. "Happy Valentine's Day."

The surgery costs approximately $11,000.
