Hospital Teaming Up With 'Do Right Campaign' To Serve Community

Two Ohio health organizations are teaming up to help people fight obesity by changing their lives for the better and the healthier.

Christ Hospital in Cincinnati is partnering with the Center for Closing the Health Gap.

The hospital pledged $1 million to the center to support initiatives and research.

It's all part of the "Do Right Campaign" to teach people to take charge of their lives.

"We're really excited to soon be working with the entire community to develop strategies and interventions that they want to see as it relates to addressing physical activity, as it relates to understanding how to eat right, nutritional programs and ultimately to understanding how to live right,” Do Right Campaign member Renee Mahaffey said.

The partnership also includes helping the center with health expo screenings and defibrillators to be donated to area churches.

Center president Dwight Tillery, a former Cincinnati mayor, said it's important to reach children at an early age, especially when it comes to combating obesity.

The center, with a $1.5 million annual budget, has similar partnerships with most of the biggest hospitals in southwest Ohio.
