HOUSTON -- With winter just around the corner, a Houston hospital is offering motorists a fast, easy and convenient way to get a flu shot.
Methodist Hospital offered drive-through shots from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist Training Center at Reliant Park. Anyone 14 years and older could get a shot without leaving their car.
Hospital officials said those who are at high risk should get a shot, including the elderly and young children.
Hundreds of motorists took advantage of program.
"It's convenient," Joe Labruzzo said. "Because of my age and my artificial valve, I don't want to get an infection."
The flu shot is $22, payable by cash or check. Workers can provide receipts if requested.
Hospital workers said living in Houston does not make you immune to getting the flu.
"The climate doesn't matter," Michelle Hunnicutt of Methodist Hospital. "People in Houston should get a flu shot."
Officials said they expected to give about 3,000 shots Tuesday.
