Children's Museum among Forbes' best children's museums
Forbes.com announced the Children's Museum of Houston (CMH) is one of the top 12 children's museums in the nation. The website revealed the findings in its article the 12 Best Children's Museums in the U.S. on Jan. 30.
Forbes.com contributor Larry Olmsted researched the 200-plus members of the Association of Children's Museums across the U.S. to identify those with interactive and physically engaging exhibits, food facilities and healthy choices for lunch. Olmsted touts the Children's Museum of Houston’s recent expansion, which doubled in size to encompass 90,000 square feet, as one of the deciding factors. Even Houston's weather played a part in the selection process.
"Taking advantage of Houston's fair climate, [CMH] has several outdoor exhibit galleries," Olmsted wrote. "Including Weather Station, EcoStation, and the watery FlowWorks, while indoor offerings range from a hands-on Science Lab to 'How Does It Work?'"
The Children's Museum of Houston is the only Texas children's museum named in the Forbes.com article. In 2011, Parents Magazine named the Children's Museum of Houston the number one children’s museum in the nation.
