Refunds announced for canceled Houston Open Air music festival

HOUSTON – Storms and lightning Sunday afternoon prompted officials to cancel the Houston Open Air music festival.

The organization announced its three-tier refund plan on Wednesday for GA and VIP ticket holders:

  • Saturday Only Ticket— 50% refund of your ticket price.
  • Sunday Only Ticket—100% refund of your ticket price.
  • Two-day Ticket — 75% refund of your ticket price (I.e. 50% refund of the Saturday portion of the ticket price and 100% refund of the Sunday portion of the ticket price.

The two-day festival at NRG Park was evacuated Saturday after dangerous weather, but attendees were allowed back into the park later in the day.

People were evacuated about 2:30 p.m. Sunday from the festival grounds as a storm approached the area. Organizers were forced to cancel the festival just after 4 p.m. for the rest of the day because of lightning in the immediate area.
