'La La Land,' 'Arrival,' 'Moonlight' among highest nominated films

"And the Oscar goes to..."

After weeks of campaigning by the major Hollywood players, the final votes have now been cast.

It was roughly a month ago when nominations were announced for the 89th annual Academy Awards, with "La La Land" receiving the most at 14 nominations. "Arrival" and "Moonlight" received eight nominations.

Finals voting is conducted through online and paper ballots, the Academy's website said. Voters are encouraged to "follow their hearts," according to details shared in a People article.

Gold Derby reports there are 6,687 members of the academy.

Academy officials said only two partners of PricewaterhouseCoopers know the results until the envelopes are opened on stage.

The Oscar presentation, taking place at the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center, will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide, according to the academy's website.
