HOUSTON – Houston radio station Mix 96-5 on Wednesday announced a new morning show, which includes a name with which Houston is familiar with.

Former Hot 95-7 morning show host Sarah Pepper will join sister station Mix 96-5 on "The Morning Mix" with Geoff Sheen and Lauren Kelly.

“The Morning Mix will be unlike any other morning show in Houston. We have three unique and likeable personalities with creative perspectives and strong opinions. They represent every member of the KHMX audience; they are a dynamic team that will give our listeners a fresh and unique way to start their day,” said Chase Murphy, Programming Director, KHMX Mix 96-5.

The morning show kicks off at 5:30 a.m. Monday along with 10-year CBS Radio veteran Lauren Kelly and Geoff Sheen.

Sheen is new to Houston from San Antonio's KTKR.

“Being able to do mornings on a heritage station like Mix 96-5 is an amazing opportunity and I want to thank Sarah Frazier and Chase Murphy for such an exciting opportunity.  Lauren is a talented woman, and after years of being friends and co-workers, I am thrilled to now call her my co-host. Geoff brings a wealth of experience and I look forward to working with him and learning from him,” said Pepper.

CBS Radio announced in January that Hot 95-7 would flip to a new format, 957 The Spot. Houston fans were surprised by the news that "The Hot Show with Sarah Pepper and Ivan" was no longer on the air.

On a Facebook post announcing the switch, several users commented on the departure of a Houston favorite morning show.

"I only listen to 95.7 for Sarah and Ivan! I am heartbroken! Sarah opened up her life for Houston and I'm so anxious to see if she is pregnant. They felt like family and shared everything with us. Good, bad, deaths, happy stories and feel-good ones. That's a major loss for YOUR station," one Facebook user said.

In the last week, the station began teasing the return of "Pepper" on social media, leaving many wondering whether Pepper was returning to the station.

"Pepper in the morning at the courthouse. Maybe they're going to bring back Pepper at 7:50 in the morning," said one Facebook user.

"The Hot Show's" Ivan Trujillo was not announced as part of the new morning team and does not appear to be with either station.

"The Morning Mix" will air weekdays from 5:30 to 10 a.m.
