Girls give stepdad Father's Day surprise song he'll never forget

'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' theme remade to make you cry

SPLENDORA, Texas – Ever cried to the theme of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”? You will today.

Three girls from Splendora gave their stepfather, Mark Whitworth, a gift this Father’s Day he’s sure to remember forever.

The three girls, Alaina, 16, Novalee, 14, and Serenity, 13, sang a version of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” theme, telling the story of their parents and how they became a family.

"He's always been like our dad. He taught me to ride a bike and the taught them to ride a bike. He's been there from the beginning," Alaina said.

The final lyrics ask their stepdad to adopt them. Before breaking down, his head in his hands, Mark Whitworth managed to say, “Yes.”

"He's not like my stepdad. He's like my real dad and he's always been there for us," Novalee said.

The video ends with the girls gathered round him, giving him a hug.

"It blew me away. I did not expect that," Mark said.

"He never knew this was coming. Even until the very end. He just thought they wrote a song about him," the girls' mother, Amber Whitworth, said.

Amber Whitworth said she wrote the lyrics for the song after the girls said they wanted to ask him to adopt them about a month ago. They practiced it, and then completely surprised him. Now, Amber Whitworth said she's surprised by the online reaction.

"I just wanted to show family and friends," she said. "I had no idea it was going to blow up like this."

Amber Whitworth said since they became a family more than 7 and a half years ago, Mark has been like a biological father to the girls. "He really stepped up to the plate from day one," she said. "It’s never been like a blended family. We’re really just making it official on paper."

“Now this is the story all about how our life got flipped turned upside down. We’d like to take a minute just sit right down, we’ll tell you all about how we got the best dad in town. West Splendora born and raised at the daycare is where we spent most of our days/ Chillin’ out max and relaxin’ all cool two out of three of us weren’t even in school. And some strange guy he was up to no good started stalkin' mama through the grocery hood. Talked and they dated and on they cared. Until they dated and set us down and said we’re getting married. We are still so excited, and our stepdad is fun, but we saw that there was something else that needed to be done. Our family’s almost perfect, there’s only one thing that can top it, so daddy we were wondering if you would adopt us.”
