Tens of thousands of people are packing Reliant Stadium every night to watch the world's biggest music stars take the spotlight at Rodeo Houston, but some of those fans are doing some performing themselves.
The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo held its first-ever Rodeo Rockstar competition, and the winners have now been named.
The contest started with 116 entries. People then voted online for their favorites, narrowing the singers down to 20. There were more than 30,000 votes. The competition ended Tuesday with a winner in the junior division (ages 6 to 15) and a winner in the youth division (ages 16 to 21).
Erica Honore, 14, of Houston, sang her way to first place in the junior division, with Martina McBride's "Anyway."
Julia Cole, 18, of Houston, won the youth division with her rendition of "You & I" by Lady Gaga.
Taking second place in the junior division were sisters Zoe Flores, 11, and Molly Flores, 12, from Rosenberg. Third place went to Sydney Schroeder, 15, of Houston.
Second place in the youth division went to Chosen the Band from Texas City. The band members are Shannon Doyle, 17, Jade Herrin, 18, Sarah Lawson, 18, Reagan Luerson, 17, and Candice Walton, 18. Ashley Austin, 18, of Cypress took home third place with her original piece "The Work Song."
First place winners took home $500. Second place winners received $250, and third place winners were awarded $100.
