Randy Travis accused of public intoxication
Country star found smelling of alcohol outside church
Country star Randy Travis is apologizing after being arrested and charged with public intoxication outside a North Texas church.
Travis was arrested early Monday after police spotted a vehicle parked outside a church in Sanger and found an open bottle of wine inside and Travis smelling of alcohol, Denton County sheriff's spokesman Tom Reedy told The Associated Press.
The singer, who launches a concert tour Friday, was brought to the Denton County jail about 1:30 a.m. and released six hours later, Reedy said.
He apologized in a statement to the AP "for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl," adding he's "committed to being responsible and accountable."
