Brinkley's Ex Says He's Not 'Pervert'

Cook Claims Misinformation Came Out In Divorce Trial

Supermodel Christie Brinkley's ex-husband, Peter Cook, is breaking his silence about the "misinformation" in the couple recent divorce trial.

People magazine published excerpts from an upcoming "20/20"television interview with Barbara Walters this week, where Cook said, "I'm not the ... pervert that I've been painted to be."

Brinkley filed for divorce from Cook after she discovered in 2006 that the architect was having an affair with his then-18-year-old assistant, Diana Bianchi.

During his testimony in the couple's divorce trial in July, Cook admitted that had given Bianchi a $300,000 payoff, had extramarital trysts in his office and Brinkley's Hamptons homes and spent thousands of dollars on online porn.

Still, Cook told Walters that he wasn't happy about the way the revelations came out in the trial.

"The misinformation that came out during the trial is the elephant in the room," Cook told Walters. "It's the elephant in the room for my kids."

The couple settled the divorce trial after about a week, with Brinkley giving Cook $2.1 million but keeping 18 properties in the Hamptons. Cook was also awarded parenting time with his and Brinkley's children.

The primary issue of the divorce trial was the custody of the children, ages 10 and 13.

Brinkley and Cook married in 2006.

In the Walters interview, Cook said, "I wanted a little acknowledgment, a little attention, a little thank you every now and then for my efforts, for the amount of time I took to care for her and my family, for the wealth I was building. Just the tremendous amount of work I was putting into my family. ... My world became her world. It had to be that way."

Brinkley's attorney, Robert Stephen Cohen, said in a statement published in People that Cook may be facing more legal action for publicly speaking about the divorce case.

"It is shocking that Mr. Cook, after having his day in court, would continue this firestorm created by his bizarre behavior by violating an agreement and court order that prohibits either party from discussing their marriage or divorce in any public way," Cohen said in the statement. "Ms. Brinkley plans to pursue her legal options arising from his gross disregard of the children and the court order."
