Report: Amy Winehouse Cleared In TB Scare

Rep Denies Tabloid Report Of Singer Coughing Up Blood

POSTED: Friday, June 20, 2008
UPDATED: 10:11 am CDT June 20, 2008

A representative for Amy Winehouse said that the singer does not have tuberculosis, despite suggestions to the contrary by a British tabloid, People magazine reports.

"She has a chest infection and she had a routine test for TB, which came back negative," Winehouse's spokesman Chris Goodman told the magazine.

Goodman also denied reports by Britain's The Sun newspaper that Winehouse had been coughing up blood at a London clinic before she was hospitalized after fainting earlier this week.

The Grammy-winning "Rehab" singer collapsed Monday at her home in London after signing autographs for a group of fans.

She's scheduled to perform next Friday at a concert to celebrate Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday and next Saturday at the Glastonbury music festival.

Goodman said that Winehouse still plans to perform at both concerts, but the decision "will be made entirely on the advice of her doctors and in her best interests."
