Shania Twain is opening up to fans for the first time about what she calls her "broken heart" following her split from husband, Mutt Lange, after 14 years of marriage.
As I am sure you have seen or heard; I am going through a rough time personally in my life," Twain wrote on her Web site. "I wanted you all to know that I could not be getting through this without you."
The Canadian-born country music star announced the breakup through her publicist last month.
Twain mentions in the letter on site that the letters, e-mails and words of encouragement from people are giving her strength.
"Your overwhelming support reminds me to smile, no matter how deep the pain and to always be grateful for all the beautiful blessings in my life," Twain wrote.
Twain said that she has "so much to say," but the best way to do that through her music and she looks forward to sharing it with her fans.
"I need some time to heal this broken heart but make no mistake; I will be back and hopefully stronger than ever," Twain wrote.
Twain, 42, and Lange, 59, married in 1993. They have a 6-year-old son, Eja.
Lange and Twain, best known for her hits "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" and "You're Still the One," recently opened a hiking trail on their property in New Zealand, fulfilling a pact designed to allay fears that wealthy foreigners were snapping up and sealing off the country's prime real estate.
Lange produced three of Twain's albums: 1995's "The Woman in Me," 1997's "Come on Over" and 2002's "Up!"
