Unlike her faux appearance on "South Park" last week, Britney Spears lived in her guest shot on the sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" Monday night.
Spears played a sweet, innocent receptionist named Abby at a tattoo removal clinic. In one scene, Ted, played by Josh Radnor, was hitting on the doctor removing his tattoo while Abby gets starry-eyed over him.
Ted and the doctor do go out but it doesn't work out, while Abby ends up going out with Barney, played by Neil Patrick Harris.
Coming out in support of the singer following her "crazy days," blogger Perez Hilton proclaimed that Spears "is reborn" for making the appearance on the show and making a stop at a recording studio Monday.
Celebrity site TMZ.com praised her as well, noting her appearance on the show "wasn't ALL bad."
The Associated Press said that while Spears likely won't win an Emmy for her appearance, "she looked relaxed and did a good job in several short scenes."
Spears' appearance on the show was a far cry from an animated take on the pop singer on "South Park." In that episode, Spears gets her face blown off and eventually suffers death at the hands of the paparazzi.
In her last moments on the "South Park" episode, titled "Britney's New Look," Spears was surrounded by people taking her photos -- but didn't survive all the flashes from the cameras.
Hearing that Spears wanted to audition for real for a guest shot on "How I Met Your Mother" made the executive producer of the show feel like he was "hallucinating."
Carter Bays told USA Today that he thought he'd give the part to an up-and-coming actress.
Instead, Bays said, he chose "the most downloaded person in the world."
Bays said Spears was "professional" and came across in the role as "very vulnerable and sweet."
Fans who can't get enough of Spears on "How I Met Your Mother" have an opportunity to get more thanks to an online auction by the show's network, CBS, and 20th Century Fox, which produces the show.
Six Spears-worn items will be available, including a navy print Juicy Couture dress, a yellow Nannette Lepore dress and a cream Nannette Lepore cardigan with blue flower details.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Natural Resources Defense Council, an environmental organization.
The auction, which started Monday on SeenOn.com, runs through March 31.
