Professor Wrestling: 'No Way Out' Results
WWE's Edge, Orton Risk Gold
What Should Happen: If Flair loses, he's toast. He's done wrestling forever. It's a great angle, but it's still too early to dump it. As a result, only one thing can happen in this match.
What Will Happen:Mr. Kennedy will not retire Flair. The Nature Boy will prevail, I'm guessing with the legendary figure-four leg lock. So why not Kennedy? Rumor has it Shawn Michaels will retire Flair at "WM24."
What Did Happen:The Nature Boy wins with a figure-four leglock. Woooooooooooooo!
ECW Championship Match: Chavo Guerrero (c) vs. C.M. Punk
What Should Happen: Punk does a great job, but there's nothing wrong with the heel Chavo as champion on this brand. He's earned a place at the top for a while.
What Will Happen:There's no need for a title change, and we won't see one. Chavo retains.
What Did Happen:Chavo wins the match with the frog splash.
"ECW/Smackdown!" Elimination Chamber Match: Finlay vs. Undertaker vs. Batista vs. Big Daddy V vs. The Great Khali vs. MVP
What Should Happen: The winner takes on the World Heavyweight Champion at "WrestleMania 24." That means it'll either be Batista or Undertaker. I think it should be Finlay myself, but I have the feeling he'll be locked up with Vince McMahon somehow in the big show.
What Will Happen: Batista is my pick to win this match.
What Did Happen: Undertaker pinned Batista to earn a trip to WM24.
"RAW" Elimination Chamber Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Shawn Michaels vs Triple H vs. Chris Jericho vs. JBL vs. Umaga
What Should Happen: The winner in this one takes on the WWE Champion at WM24. WWE is pushing Jeff Hardy right now, and I have a hard time disagreeing with that direction. He's earned it, and it seems like the live crowds really like the guy. Unlike the "Smackdown!" Elimination Chamber crew, this is a pretty strong field. Any one of these performers could hold their own in a title match on the biggest stage of the year.
What Will Happen: I like Hardy, but I'm going with Triple H to win this one.
What Did Happen: In the end, Triple H pinned Hardy to win his trip to WM24.
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Edge (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
What Should Happen: There's no way Edge isn't headlining WM23. What they do with Mysterio is a different story. Should it happen? Probably. Edge vs. Batista isn't a dream matchup, but it doesn't stink, either.
What Will Happen: Edge will retain his title.
What Did Happen: Edge took it with a clean pin over Rey, who was nursing an arm injury.
WWE Championship Match: Randy Orton (c) vs. John Cena
What Should Happen: I can't imagine a "WrestleMania" without Triple H in the main event. The same goes for Cena and Orton. I think the smart money says triple threat match for the title at WM24, kids. As for this match, I can see Cena winning and getting his title back, setting up the three-way with Orton and Trips.
What Will Happen: John Cena will defeat Randy Orton to take the WWE title.
What Did Happen: Cena won the match after Orton was disqualified after he slapped the ref, keeping his title. WWE, you shouldn't ask your fans to pay for a DQ in a title match. Shame!
As always, I was amazing in picking these matches. Take out the Orton DQ and the Undertaker win, and I'm perfect again.Another amazing feature of this weekly column is the fabulous audio experience with Episode 65 of "Old School, New School" -- the Professor Wrestling podcast.
