Actor Brad Renfro, 25, Found Dead

'Client' Pleaded No Contest To Heroin Charge In 2006

POSTED: Tuesday, January 15, 2008
UPDATED: 8:57 am CST January 16, 2008

Brad Renfro, the troubled actor whose film career began at age 12 with "The Client," has died. He was 25.

The actor was found dead at his Los Angeles home Tuesday morning, his lawyer Richard Kaplan said. The cause of death has not been determined, however, Renfro had a history of drug abuse.

Renfro served 10 days in jail in May 2006 after pleading no contest to driving while intoxicated and pleading guilty to attempted possession of heroin.

TMZ is reporting that Renfro, who had starring roles in "The Client" and "Apt Pupil," had been working valiantly to stay clean, especially since this summer.

Renfro just finished filming a movie,"The Informers," with Winona Ryder and Billy Bob Thornton.

According to TMZ, Renfro has had a rough time personally since moving from Tennessee to Los Angeles. His parents split, and did not have real guidance from adults as he tried navigating the treacherous movie industry.
