POSTED: Monday, November 26, 2007
LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas authorities said Monday that they were investigating the death of Kevin DuBrow, lead singer for the 1980's heavy metal band Quiet Riot, who was found dead in a Las Vegas home.
A neighbor called police and paramedics Sunday to a home where the 52-year-old DuBrow was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m., police and coroner's officials said.
Quiet Riot hit it big in 1983 with the cover of the Slade song "Cum on Feel the Noize."
"I can't even find words to say. Please respect my privacy as I mourn the passing and honor the memory of my dearest friend Kevin DuBrow," said Dubrow's former Quiet Riot bandmate Frankie Banali in a statement on his Web site.
Police Officer Jose Montoya said that was no forced entry at the house, and no suspicious circumstances were reported.
The cause and manner of death were not immediately known, pending an autopsy and toxicology results, Clark County coroner's spokeswoman Samantha Charles said.
"Cum on Feel the Noize" was a single off of Quiet Riot's "Metal Health" album. With the album, the group earned the distinction of being the first metal group to top the Billboard Top 200 album chart. The album also spawned the hit "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)."
According to Billboard, DuBrow formed Quiet Riot with guitarist Randy Rhoads in 1975.
Rhoads left the group to join Ozzy Osbourne's band in 1979, and was later killed in plane crash in 1982.
Billboard said DuBrow left Quiet Riot in 1987, but returned in the early 1990s. In 2004 he released the solo album "In For the Kill."
