HOUSTON -- Hundreds of people lined up at Toyota Center early Saturday to get one of the hottest concert tickets in town, KPRC Local 2 reported. The line wrapped around the building by 9 a.m. Some people were napping, some were pacing. They were all waiting to buy Hannah Montana tickets.Disney actress Miley Cyrus has morphed into a full-fledged pop diva for tweens, producing sold-out shows across the country.
Juan Garcia drove to Houston from Brownsville and spent the night to get a good spot in line.Everyone in line was given a number for a lottery drawing. Whatever number was drawn would become the beginning of the line."My number's 105," he said.At 10 a.m., Garcia found out the number 105 was too low. The person with number 654 was suddenly the first person in line and everyone after him moved to the front of the line. The person with number 654 had not been in the line long."I just got here like 10 minutes ago," Rene Adame said. The lottery system was designed to be as fair as possible. Scalpers are often the first in line and buy up all the tickets at face value."The thing that made me mad is the guys that have no children, here for no reason whatsoever," James Dyer said. "They've got 20 guys staged in line.""There's no way around," Toyota Center General Manager Doug Hall said. "It's just part of our business. We try to defeat it as best we can, yet at the same time take care of the customers."The show is Nov. 11.
