POSTED: Tuesday, August 7, 2007
NEW YORK -- Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers is ready to release his first album since the death of fellow singer Bobby Hatfield.
Medley's new album, "Damn Near Righteous," will be released Sept. 25. Among the songs featured is his tribute to Hatfield, "California Goodbye."
Hatfield, who was 63, died in November 2003 of a heart attack. The Righteous Brothers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier that year.
The Righteous Brothers' hits include "You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling," "Unchained Melody" and "Rock and Roll Heaven" – a tribute to late rock musicians.
Medley, 63, also recorded with Jennifer Warnes the Oscar-winning song "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" from "Dirty Dancing."
Medley's new album will also include a remake of the Beach Boys song "In My Room -- which features Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson and one-half of the Everly Brothers, Phil Everly.
