LOS ANGELES -- Actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested for alleged drunken driving early Tuesday morning in Santa Monica, Calif.
Lohan was being held in the Santa Monica jail shortly before sunrise in lieu of $25,000 bail, police said. She bonded out shortly before 6:30 a.m.
Los Angeles television station KNBC-TV reported that Lohan, who just spent more than a month in her second round of treatment for alcoholism, was arrested while driving a white SUV near Pico Boulevard and Main Street, near the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The 21-year-old actress, who is already facing a drunken driving charge in Beverly Hills, was pulled over on Main Street near the Santa Monica Police Department and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as driving on a suspended license, according to Sgt. Robert Hernandez.
Lohan was also charged with possession of cocaine, according to Santa Monica Police Department Sgt. Shane Talbot. Talbot said that police found cocaine in one of her pants pockets during a prebooking search.
Police said Lohan had been chasing another SUV prior to her arrest; the mother of her personal assistant, who had quit her job hours before, was driving the vehicle being pursued.
Santa Monica police Lt. Alex Padilla said that woman -- the assistant's mother -- was driving to the police station and stopped at the Civic Center parking lot, where she called police on her cell phone.
Lohan agreed to wear an alcohol-detecting anklet upon her release from the Promises treatment center in Malibu, but it was unclear if that played a role in the traffic stop.
Police said Lohan refused to blow into a field sobriety Breathalyzer test at the scene, but after a series of other field sobriety tests, she was taken into custody, according to Lt. Lindsey of the Santa Monica Police Department.
Lohan did submit to a Breathalyzer at the Santa Monica police station, according to the police, and she registered a .12 blood-alcohol level.
Two other people in the vehicle were released, police said. They were not identified.
Lohan's recent stint at Promises was her second round of treatment in less than a year. In January, she checked into the Wonderland Center in Laurel Canyon.
Lohan was scheduled to be on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on Tuesday to promote her new film "I Know Who Killed Me," but has since nixed the appearance.
Lohan's attorney, Blair Berk said her client had relapsed and was again receiving medical care.
