Oscar Seeking Past Fashion Hits, Disasters
Bjork's Swan Dress Is Off-Limits
POSTED: Tuesday, January 9, 2007
Past Oscar fashion hits and disasters will be highlighted at this year's Academy Awards.
Show producer Laura Ziskin is trying to round up some of the dresses worn by the stars in past years for a fashion retrospective.
So far Ziskin has Barbra Streisand's transparent bell-bottom jumpsuit from 1968, two dresses from Sophia Loren, Diane Keaton's white pantsuit and Sharon Stone's Gap T-shirt and Valentino skirt combo.
What won't be featured is the infamous swan dress Bjork wore to the ceremonies six years ago, when the singer was nominated for a Best Original Song Oscar for "I've Seen it All" from "Dancer in the Dark."
"They wouldn't give it to us," Ziskin said.
On Ziskin's wish list still is Ellen Barkin's Versace dress from 1993, a Halston gown worn in 1990 by Glenn Close, the dress Julie Andrews wore in 1965 -- which was featured in last year's Oscar poster -- and "anything from Natalie Wood."
Anybody who might have a piece of Oscar fashion history is urged to e-mail publicity@oscars.org
This year's Oscar ceremony is set for Feb. 23 in Hollywood, Calif. Ellen DeGeneres is on board to host.
Ziskin produced the 74th annual Academy Awards, and such film hits as "Spider-Man" and "Spider-Man 2." She was also an executive producer on "Pretty Woman" and "As Good as It Gets."
