DeVito Denies Being Drunk On 'View'

Behavior Raises Ire Of Walters

POSTED: Thursday, November 30, 2006

Actor Danny DeVito didn't say he was drunk while on "The View" Wednesday, only that he'd been drinking with George Clooney the night before.

But he did say "it was the last seven Limoncellos that were going to get" him.

When co-host Rosie O'Donnell asked if he'd been to sleep yet, she answered for him, "Not really." Then, he said "No."

Barbara Walters, who produces "The View" in addition to co-hosting the show, appeared to be irked at DeVito's antics throughout the interview.

The drunk question really came up when DeVito went into an expletive-laced Three Stooges act to describe President George W. Bush.

DeVito also described how he and wife Rhea Perlman "utilized" all areas of the Lincoln Bedroom when they stayed overnight at the White House during President Bill Clinton's tenure at the White House.

"We made it our business to really wreck the joint," DeVito said, as O'Donnell rooted him on.

After he described his White House stay, Walters urged him to talk about his new movie "Deck the Halls."

DeVito's publicist told TMZ.com DeVito asked for Walters' phone number so he could tell her "what needed to be said privately."
