TORRANCE, Calif. -- A New York teenager pleaded not guilty Tuesday to felony charges of stalking pop star and actress Hilary Duff.
Maksim Myaskovskiy, 18, was arrested after allegedly making several phone calls to Duff's private security firm.
An investigator told police that the teen allegedly threatened to hurt Duff and her boyfriend, Joel Madden, at an event she was planning to attend.
Court documents said Myaskovskiy has admitted to being "obsessed" with Duff and allegedly threatened to kill himself to get her attention.
Duff is the star of such films as "A Cinderella Story," "Raise Your Voice" and "Cheaper By the Dozen" and its sequel. She also starred in the television series "Lizzie McGuire."
Madden is the singer of the group Good Charlotte.
Myaskovskiy's bail was set at $1 million. His next hearing is Nov. 22.
