HISD Teachers Return To Class

HOUSTON -- Summer is over for thousands of Houston Independent School District teachers who returned to school on Monday, KPRC Local 2, Your Education Station, reported.

The first day was spent primarily unpacking supplies boxed up from last year.

HISD Superintendent Abelardo Saavedra greeted teachers at Carnegie Vanguard High School, 10401 Scott Street, and praised them for earning an exemplary rating from the Texas Education Agency.

The first day of school for HISD students is Aug. 27.
