BELLEVUE, Neb. -- It took several hours Thursday evening for Nebraska Humane Society officers to free a deer that got onto a building at Bellevue University.
The Bellevue University Education Services Building is built on a slope, and piece of the roof rises just 4 feet above the ground. The deer jumped up onto the roof.
NHS officers said they were afraid to tranquilize the deer for fear it would run the wrong way and jump from a piece of the roof that was higher, or that it would try to bolt through glass.
Eventually, a plywood bridge was built for the deer, and it was freed.
An administrator said the building is about a year old.
