UPDATED: 12:42 pm CDT May 31, 2007

Even though school is out for the Houston Independent School District, hundreds of schools will be open to help feed students over the summer, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.

Those between the ages of 1 and 18 can have a free breakfast and free lunch at more than 200 schools.

The summer lunch program begins on Thursday and lasts through June 29.

There is no paperwork involved, and no registration is needed. A child does not have to be enrolled in summer school to receive a free meal.

Adults may also participate in the program by purchasing breakfast for $1.70 and lunch for $2.95.

Children can stop by any one of the participating HISD schools between the hours of 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. for breakfast and between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for lunch. The meals will be offered Monday through Friday.

Questions regarding the Summer Food Service Program may be directed to HISD/ARAMARK Food Services at 713-924-2455.
