Teacher Boots Girls From Prom Over Dresses
Teacher Says Dresses Too Revealing

MARRERO, La. -- Dozens of girls were turned away from a prom at L.W. Higgins High School this weekend because a teacher thought their dresses were too revealing.
Parents dropping off their students said several girls and their dates were turned away from the party after a teacher deemed their dresses too provocative. Most of the offending garb apparently involved excessive display of cleavage.
Angry parents said that decision was wrong."It's not right," parent Wayne Nelerine said. "It's not right. For 12 years they look for this, and they deny it. They can't do it. It's not right." One prom-goer said he thinks his date was turned away because of how she's built. He called that "discrimination" and said that's "wrong." Jefferson Parish school district officials are backing the teacher. They said she was simply enforcing a dress code that's been in effect for years. They added that some of the girls were admitted after they fixed their dresses.
