Takata shares plummet after 10th death linked to faulty air bags and other business news

Takata shares plummeted 10 percent after news of another death possibly linked to the company’s massive air-bag recall.

If confirmed, it would be the 10th death linked to the faulty air bags. Federal regulators have also added another five million vehicles to the massive recall, adding to the more than 19 million already recalled from most of the major automakers including Ford, Nissan and Toyota.

In other business news, Pope Francis is meeting with some of Silicon Valley’s biggest names leading to speculation of a possible partnership. Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke privately with the pope for about 15 minutes on Friday. Just a week earlier, Pope Francis met with the head of Google, Eric Schmidt.

None involved have revealed what the meetings covered, but the pope is said to be aware of the importance of technology in mobilizing Catholic youth.
