Trader Joe's hummus recalled over possible Listeria contamination

Recall affects White Bean & Basil and Mediterranean hummus

MIAMI – Trader Joe's hummus products sold in Florida stores have been recalled due to possible Listeria contamination.

Both the 16-ounce White Bean & Basil and 16-ounce Mediterranean hummus are part of the recall and sold in plastic tubs.

Other than Florida, the products are sold in 29 states with a "USE BY" date up through Dec. 15.

The tubs also include a "C" plant identification code.

The hummus is produced by Bakkover Foods USA for Trader Joe's, the popular grocery chain.

Listeria can cause serious and possibly deadly infections in young children and the elderly.

The FDA says symptoms include high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
