Mom upset 'swearing' doll sold in local store

Doll many believe curses still on store shelves

HOUSTON – A Rosenberg mother was angry Monday that a doll many parents believe says a curse word is still available on store shelves.

Rose Pickens told Local 2 at first, she was not sure who said the foul word she heard.

"You crazy 'B' and 'B' is not like bad or ball. It's THE B word, rhymes with witch," Pickens said.

According to Pickens, the curse word came from one of the You and Me Interactive Play & Giggle Triplet Dolls her daughter was playing with, sold only at Toys 'R' Us.

Local 2 first reported on these dolls last fall when they made national headlines for what many parents said is foul language. Since then, Toys 'R' Us has left the dolls on its store shelves.

Pickens told Local 2 she called the toy retailer to complain.

"I actually expected them to be shocked," Pickens said. "The manager acknowledged that he had heard that this doll does curse and that they had no plans of removing them from the shelves."

The store manager offered to give Pickens store credit for the dolls since she purchased them more than 90 days ago and no longer has a receipt.

"It's not the money. It has nothing to do with money," said Pickens. "It's about the principle that we're teaching our kids bad language.
