Freebie Friday: Mardi Gras fun

Mardi Gras fun continues in Galveston this weekend; but you don't have to head out of town for the beads and beer. Consumer expert Amy Davis has compiled a list of events with plenty of fun right in our backyard that won't cost you a dime in today's Freebie Friday report.

The Boardwalk at Towne Lake in Cypress is beautiful. It'll be all decked out in purple and gold with live music Saturday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.. There will also be a gumbo taste-off and plenty of beads!

It's Family Day Out at Town Green Park off Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Meet Cinderella & Tinker Bell and get your child's face painted. Get there early for some cool freebies for the first 50 moms inside.

Also in the Woodlands at Rob Fleming Park kids can get up close and Touch a Truck or several from 9 a.m. until noon. Kids can even climb on the vehicles and play construction-themed games.

Back inside the loop, head to North Shepherd near 11th street for a Clann Kelly School of Irish Dance open house in the Hunter Dance Center between 1 p.m. and 2:15. You can watch the dancers and then try it yourself in a free class.

Saturday at 3 p.m. take your tots to The Menil Collection for a free concert for kids featuring scores by Bach and Beethoven called "Stop, Look and Listen."
