Freebie Friday: Weekend events and fun for the family

Houston's park scene just got a whole lot cooler with the complete redesign and renovation of Levy Park.

It has a dog park, a putting green and a children's amphitheater. You can check it out Saturday.

Tucked away in the upper Kirby area on Eastside Drive, Levy park is stepping out Saturday for its grand re-opening.

Mayor Sylvester turner will be there at 11 a.m. to officially cut the ribbon, but you can stop by anytime until 7 p.m. for face painting, a piano concert, dancing and Grammy award-winning Latin funk band, Grupo Fantasma.

The friends of Woodland Park are celebrating the park's 10th anniversary, Saturday at 10 a.m. They'll provide the fun and refreshments, you can just bring the family.

Houston Creole Heritage Festival & Parade: For a spicier Saturday, head to the Houston Creole Heritage Festival at Discovery Green. Dance to live Zydeco for free from 9 a.m. To 9 p.m.

 Old Town Spring Big Top Vintage Market: Browse all things vintage, antique or just good ole junk under the big top in old town spring! Saturday and Sunday from 10 until 5 p.m.
