Domino's to test pizza delivery by drone

Domino’s wants to become the first company to deliver pizza by air.

The pizza chain has partnered with drone delivery service Flirtey. Domino’s is still waiting for approval from New Zealand’s Civil Aviation Authority, but they expect trial deliveries to take off later this year.

Flirtey is already a success in the United States, testing drone deliveries for 7-Eleven. Domino's and Flirtey launched a mock delivery on Thursday in Auckland to show how it would work.

However, there could be troubled skies ahead for the companies in New Zealand, because of a law requiring the pilot to keep the drone in sight at all times.
