Popeyes reports data breach at several Houston-area restaurants

HOUSTON – The information of customers who used debit and credit cards last year at several Houston-area Popeyes restaurants may have been compromised.

CCC Restaurant, the company that operates Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, said malware is believed to have been in operation at seven restaurants in the Houston area from May 5, 2016, to Aug. 18, 2016.

The restaurants affected were:

  • 16425 Imperial Valley Drive, Houston
  • 2406 Bay Area Blvd., Houston
  • 1710 Highway 90, Liberty, Texas
  • 404 W. Parkwood, Friendswood, Texas
  • 9802 FM1764, Texas City, Texas
  • 6804 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas
  • 1153 W. Main Street, League City, Texas

A restaurant in Georgia and two restaurants in North Carolina were also impacted.

The company said the malware collected the cardholder’s name, card number expiration date and security code.

To assist customers affected by the breach, the company has established a hotline at 844-299-6984. The hotline operates from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
