Americans will be spending big on love this Valentine’s Day.
According to a new study from the National Retail Federation, Americans plan to spend $146.84 on average for flowers, candy, stuffed animals, jewelry and other gifts. That’s about $4.53 more than last year.
Total spending on Valentine’s Day is expected to skyrocket to a record high of $19.7 billion. The most popular gift is the sweetest—50 percent of people surveyed said they plan on buying candy.
