Barnes and Noble celebrating summer reading program with free books

HOUSTON – To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its summer reading program, Barnes and Noble is giving kids a chance to earn a free book. 

The book giveaway runs from May 17 to September 6. Children must keep a reading journal and write about the books they read over the summer.

Young readers have to to finish at least three books and answer questions in their reading journal before the deadline to get a free book from their local store. 

The reading journal can be printed out as a PDF from the retailer's website. 

Barnes and Noble is also kicking off the program with a Summer Reading Triathlon Opening Ceremony on June 4 at all stores nationwide. Kids can start voting for their favorite book heroes and places that day. Voting ends August 21.
