'As Seen on TV Tuesday': Does Target Tweeze remove unwanted hair?

HOUSTON – Whether it's an unwanted mustache or peach fuzz on the sides of your face, you've got a lot of options for hair removal. But some people are more discreet about their problem areas. You may not want to wax or go to a salon. One company created a personal hair removal device you can use in the privacy of your own home. Consumer expert Amy Davis is testing the Target Tweeze for "As Seen On TV Tuesday."

The Target Tweeze is supposed to be the cheaper version of the Epilady from the '80s. The company claims it plucks hair from your bikini, eyebrows, underarms or that place you don't want to admit you have a problem-- your upper lip.

The device may be discreet, but it is loud.

"That sounds scary," Click 2 Houston web producer Lea Wilson said. She took one for the team and went public with her personal problem.

"I have hair on my upper lip," she said. "Though you can't really see it, I know it's there and it makes me uncomfortable."

Even with our super zoom macro lens, we could barely make out the fuzz, so we'll have to trust Wilson's review of the device.

"Target Tweeze finds hair like a magnet with its rotating action that gently removes hair right from the root," the announcer claims in the commercial for the product. The manufacturer claims the hair stays gone for weeks. The instructions say you should hold Target Tweeze vertically against your skin at a 90-degree angle.

Wilson said she felt some light pinching, but nothing painful when she used the product. There was a bigger problem, however.

"It did not remove any hair at all," she said. "None at all!"

She even gave it a second shot, hoping she was doing something wrong. In the end, Target Tweeze, which cost us $19.99, missed its mark.

"It didn't even get the longer whiskers on the side here," Wilson said. "No. Absolutely not. I wouldn't spend it. I wouldn't spend that for it."
