HOUSTON – A lot of funny things can happen at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, especially with events such as the Calf Scramble, where teens race to rope a calf, and Mutton Bustin', where small children ride sheep.
New York comedian Jimmy Fallon came down to the Lone Star State over the weekend hoping to find some of that funny material for his NBC talk show, "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon."
Fallon has been cracking jokes for NBC fans for more than a decade, first with "Saturday Night Live" and then with his own show.
"We're having the best time. (We have the) best crew of working people -- best writers, the band. And the best fans who've kept the show around. It went so fast. It feels like two weeks. But, again, it also feels like 50 years," he said. "It's a very positive show. We have fun and have fun with our guests. We have them sing and play games. It's super fun and it's a good way to go to bed at night. If you're having a rough day, watch us! You don't have to think. We'll do the hard work for you, and make you laugh and you go to bed happy."
While Fallon was at the rodeo, he took part in the Calf Scramble. It was part of a rodeo segment he will air on his show later this month.
"Chicken fried steak -- everything is deep fried. You name it, they can deep fry it. Do you realize this? Twice fried -- they already fried it and they're going to fry it again and give it to you. THAT's a win for me," Fallon said.
Fallon shook a lot of hands with fans and posed for pictures. He said he owes everything to his fans.
"Local 2, man. I got to give props to the people here in Houston. I love it. Thank you for watching me," he said.
