Oct. 27: Changes in choice at HISD; Houston Sustainability Report
Big Changes at HISD as several Magnet programs are being shut down at year's end. Dave Wheat, Assistant Superintendent School Choice is a guest on this week's Houston Newsmakers with Khambrel Marshall.
Wheat talk about the reasons for the magnet school closures and the alternatives for students enrolled at those soon to be closed programs.
Also this week Dr. Lester King from the Rice University Shell Center for Sustainability. The center recently released a comprehensive report on the Houston's Ability to thrive, which areas are in good shape and which are not.
The report analyzes the city by its eleven City Council Districts and gives a thorough breakdown of the strengths and weaknesses of the region.
Dr. King says the report is a good way for Houstonians to see how well their individual communities are doing and for City Council members to see what work still needs to be done in their respective districts.
