Eyes On Houston: Shrek at Main Street Theatre

HOUSTON – On a hot Houston afternoon, a crowd of children lined up not for a movie matinee, but a movie come to life — Shrek the Musical.

Princess Fiona and a troupe of ogres on stage, but wasn’t only kids in the audience.

“We put in a lot of humor that engages the adults and entertains the children so we have kids from 3 to people up to 90 that love our productions,” Youth Director Vivienne St. John of Main Street Theatre said.

Families also love Main Street Theatre's new home, the Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston, a spectacular new performing arts center. Located in Houston’s Midtown, the center has a state of the art facility perfect for watching this modern fairytale come alive and hearing a happy ending.

“It’s a story about loving everybody, no matter what they look like or who they are, what they like or don't like. It's just a story about embracing each other's individuality,” St. John said.

Shrek's final performance is July 31.
