A high school teacher in Illinois has resigned after spraying Lysol in a student's eyes.

Rolling Meadows, Ill., police said they declined to bring charges against the teacher at the request of the student's father, who did not want to sign a complaint against her. She handed in her resignation last week, the Daily Herald reported.

The newspaper did not name the 47-year-old math and science instructor because she was not charged.

According to police reports, the teacher told students to put their safety goggles on, and threatened to spray them with Lysol if they didn't do so.

She first sprayed another student who did not have his goggles on, but he turned away and was sprayed on the back of the head, the victim told police.

The victim said he was adjusting his safety goggles when he was sprayed, according to the police report.

He suffered an eye injury and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, but was not expected to have any permanent eye damage.
