Applications being accepted for HPD's youth advisory council

Applications due October 1

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is accepting applications for the 2013-2014 Youth Police Advisory Council.

Houston-area high school students are eligible to apply.

Houston police said students will address issues affecting youth and the community, participate in community service projects and attend youth leadership conferences throughout the state. Additionally, the council meets with Chief of Police Charles McClellan and other top HPD officials.

Council members are required to meet five times during the school year at HPD Headquarters at 1200 Travis in downtown Houston.

Applications are available online and must be turned in by Tuesday, October 1.
