HEART WALK
  • Saturday, Nov. 7, 9:30 a.m.
  • Sam Houston Park, Downtown Houston.
  • The Start! Houston Heart Walk is a five-mile, non-competitive walk. The route has multiple turnaround points for anyone unable to complete 5 miles. Family friendly and dog-friendly.
  • Free -- no fees. Walkers are eligible for a Start! Heart Walk T-shirt once they raise $100.
  • Get started in a walking program and be part of the American Heart Association's mission in motion.

MARIO LOPEZ COMES TO HOUSTON
  • Actor and Extra! television host Mario Lopez will join his sister, author Marissa Lopez Wong, to read and sign their new book called Mud Tacos at Discovery Green on Thanksgiving weekend.

  • Mud Tacos! is a loving tale about family and the nurturing bond between a brother and sister. The story follows Mario and Marissa and their cousins Chico and Rosie playing in their nana's backyard and using their imagination to have fun.

DISCOVERY GREEN
  • Discovery Green is a 12-acre park located in downtown Houston. With its proximity to the George R. Brown Convention Center, Minute Maid Park and Toyota Center, Discovery Green is an ideal location for the city's newest attraction. Visitors to the park can enjoy many natural, recreational, art, dining and eco-friendly features including a one-acre lake, children's playground, amphitheater stage, dog runs, public art, restaurants and more.

MILLER OUTDOOR THEATRE
  • Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park is your free ticket to a world of entertainment and KPRC Local 2 is proud to be its sponsor.
  • Enjoy popular and classical concerts, Broadway shows, red-hot dance and the best in entertainment from around the globe.
  • The theatre is located on approximately 7.5 acres of land in Hermann Park, site of the Houston Zoo, the Garden Center, and the Museum of Natural Science. Seating is provided for 1,582 patrons and 27 wheelchair spaces plus an 80,000-square-foot sloping lawn that accommodates about 4,500 more.

KPRC EVENT SUBMISSIONS
  • Do you have an event you would like KPRC Local 2 to be a part of? Please put your proposal in writing, explaining your event and how KPRC Local 2 can help.
  • Provide specific event details, including description, date, time and location, along with suggestions on what you would like for KPRC Local 2 to do.
  • All proposals should be submitted at least three months prior to your event.
  • Be sure to include a contact name and number where you can be reached during business hours.
  • Send your proposal to Eric Greene, c/o KPRC-TV/Local 2, 8181 Southwest Freeway, Houston, Texas 77074, fax to 713-778-8900 or e-mail us at community@click2houston.com.
  • KPRC Local 2's Community Involvement Committee (CIC) will discuss your proposal and how we can best assist with your event.
  • We will contact you once a decision has been reached regarding your proposal.
