Department Recommends Contract Be Awarded To Arizona Company

HOUSTON -- Houston is a step closer to installing red-light cameras across the city.On Tuesday, the Houston Police Department recommended the contract for the cameras be awarded to American Traffic Solutions of Arizona.Officials said ATS had the clearest pictures and best reports compared to three other providers.A final contract will go before the Houston City Council for a vote in the next three to four weeks.If approved, the city will purchase and place 50 cameras at intersections across Houston.
