For about $16,250 you can buy a new Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris or Nissan Versa.

Or, you can buy a set of carbon-ceramic brakes for a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, according to Forbes list of most expensive car options.

And the Lamborghini's brakes are the least expensive item on the list. The most expensive item is the $29,900 glass partition wall for the Maybach 62.

"In the exotic car market, almost none of the options, other than, say, the carbon-ceramic brakes, are particularly functional. What they want are the distinctive features that make their vehicle even more unique to them," Scott Rothermel, general sales manager of Lamborghini Chicago in Westmont, Ill., told Forbes.

Carbon-ceramic brakes are designed to better dissipate heat and extend braking performance during extreme driving. No. 9 on the list is Bentley's carbon-ceramic brake system is $16,500 for the Continental GT.

The Ferrari F430 also had a functional addition option to add: carbon fiber fittings for the engine compartment and carbon fiber intake manifold for $16,600, which make the car lighter than with the standard equipment.

Many of the items aren't functional, like the emerald green leather offered in teh Maybach 57 and 62 models for $19,900, or the stainless steel hood and teak trim on the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe for $17,000.
