DETROIT -- Detroit police said they are looking for a carjacker who stole a car with a 5-month-old baby inside.
Police said it started at a gas station Wednesday afternoon and had a happy ending several blocks away, reported WDIV-TV in Detroit.
The baby's mother, Courteney Henry, said she was pumping gas at the station when the man jumped into her car and took off while the boy was asleep in his car seat.
"I just kept asking him can I have my baby back. He wouldn't give him," Henry said.
The man took off after abandoning the car, according to police.
The mother's cell phone was left in the car and the baby was still asleep. Neighbors said they used the cell phone to call police and the baby's family.
The baby and the mother were not hurt.
