Woman says restaurant worker sent threatening Facebook messages

PASADENA, Texas – Two employees at a Pasadena restaurant have been fired after management says they accused a woman of walking out of the restaurant without paying her bill.

Rene Hall is originally from Pasadena, but now lives out of town.  She came into town this past weekend to see family and on Sunday she says she started getting Facebook messages from two employees who worked at the Cheddar's at 3365 E. Sam Houston Parkway South.

"The first message I got was like: ‘Thanks for the tip', then there was some profanity," Hall said.

She says the two employees said they captured Hall on surveillance video walking out of the restaurant on Sunday without paying.

"I was so confused when they said Cheddar's," Hall said.

She said she has not even been to that Cheddar's location in a couple of years. She believes the employees found her on Facebook through mutual friends, but she has no clue why they decided to make the accusations.

"To go out of your way to find someone and then make random threats is just ridiculous," Hall said.

Cheddars has since fired the two employees.

Chris Kelley, the area director for Cheddar's, sent Channel 2 this statement:

"We in no way condone the language and threats made on social media against Ms. Hall, and I have personally apologized to her and assured her that those individuals do not speak for the restaurant."

Hall says Tuesday afternoon one of the employees messaged her on Facebook again, saying she did not send the original messages, rather it was someone who set up a fake account in her name.  That former employee also told Hall she has since hired a lawyer.
